Our Comrades Events
Each year, more than 100 Dolphins train for Comrades and you couldn’t wish for better training partners.
A couple of events are part of our Comrades Campaign each year, starting with our….
This is a long run training event on the Comrades route (normally 1 May), where the POD runs 55km on the Comrades Route to the finish.
Chairman’s 10km Run
The training culminates with the Chairman’s run hosted a week or two just before Comrades. This entails a gentle 10km run, with a mandatory ‘water point’ (shooters!) set up at halfway!
Afterwards, we host a breakfast for all Comrades participants and their families, where Barry Holland assist to prepare the runners with a Race Brief and map through the course, pacing guides and what runners can expect on the day.
The POD then makes their Race time predictions for the big prize at the Aches and Pains party and drop off their water bottles for the seconding tables.
Comrades 4km ‘Leg Loosener’ & Breakfast
The day before there a 4km fun run along the boardwalk to loosen our legs up and prepare our bodies (and our minds) for race day, followed by a light breakfast to wish everyone well for their run.
We arrange Busses to the start and have 5 seconding tables stationed every 15kms on Race Day and supporters along the route to cheer and encourage all our Dolphins. This is followed by a catered support station at the finish venue to relax and celebrate the day with friends and family.
Aches & Pains Party
We arrange an Aches and Pain party the day after the Race to celebrate, share race-day stories.
